Presentation Details:

How many times have you taken a “how to” course on MS Project? Using MS Project seems simple and straight forward. However, the reality is that unless you understand what MS Project is doing behind the scenes, you can be using it totally wrong. The mechanics of using this software does not really teach you how to manage your project using the software. This presentation will give you the hints and tips you need to successfully manage your project using MS Project. Further, when this software is used correctly, it not only benefits your project and project team, but it helps to protect your team by understanding at every step what effect additional or changing tasks can have on your timeline. You will have things happen to your project but by using MS Project correctly, you will be aware at once and can communicate to your sponsor, the effect on schedule and cost.

Linda is an experienced Project Manager with 33 years of service at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. When her husband retired from Goodyear, she did as well so that the two of them could move to the beautiful Smokey Mountains of Georgia. Early in her career, Linda was an IT professional until she found her passion for Project Management in 1995. Her very first project was on time and on budget which immediately set her apart from others running projects at Goodyear. She continued in project management, obtained her PMP (Project Management Professional) certification and later returned to school to get her Master’s degree in project management. During her 15+ years as a project manager, she also started two Project Management Offices, performed Project Management Maturity assessments and was an active teacher, coach and mentor to other project managers. Linda’s last job at Goodyear was as the Enterprise Competency Manager of the Global PMO where she traveled the world training individuals, project teams and sponsors in everything from project management fundamentals to PMP preparation classes. As an Adjunct Professor at the University of Akron, she has also taught project management to Master’s students. Today, Linda continues educating others in project management through PMI Atlanta where she serves on the Education committee and through her consulting business.
