Cori L. Lawton, RHIA, PMP

With a background in HIM and Information Systems, Cori Lawton demonstrates the ever-present role technical knowledge plays in the HIM arena. She obtained a BBA in Management & Information Systems from Savannah State University and a post-Baccalaureate certificate in HIM from Georgia Regents University (formerly Medical College of Georgia). Her nine years of experience in the healthcare industry includes working in the Health Information Services department of a pediatric multi-facility healthcare organization and as Project Manager leading implementations for more than thirty customers spanning bed sizes of 25–1,000+. Within McKesson’s EIS group, Cori currently manages a team of 8 Project Managers leading software upgrades. Cori’s expertise includes project management, “Gold Standard” development, data conversions, software upgrades & deployments, and facilitation of super user training. She chaired a number of initiatives focusing on methodology oversight/development, on-boarding of college hire and project management resources, and continues to mentor individuals in pursuit of similar professions. Cori’s professional memberships and activities include the Project Management Institute and the American Health Information Management Association.
