BiographyAbdelaziz Sam

I’m an avid reader, public speaker, and have published several articles in AJC. I was also interviewed extensively by multiple TV channels during the Arab Spring. I’m a Competent Communicator and member of PMI Toastmasters.

I lived and worked in Cairo, New York, London, Dallas, Denver, and Atlanta. This varied experience helped me learn ways to communicate, motivate, and lead teams with different backgrounds and working habits.

I have thirty years experience in the travel and banking industries. I worked as a programmer, architect, project lead, development manager, project manager, and director.

As a development Manager (Application Owner) I lead a team of twenty professionals in the development and continuous improvement of a pricing engine. This pricing engine is in use by several American and foreign carriers in addition to multiple travel sites. As a project manager and director I’m responsible for a budget of $10 million and multiple projects in the Big Data / Business Intelligence vertical.

These experiences allowed me to work closely with customers, vendors, product owners, and development managers worldwide. The ability to work with the leaders of these organizations is an important asset that I believe will help me navigate my role as Director At Large.

I’m PMP certified since 2004. I have hands on project management experience that will help facilitate strong ties with our community of project managers.

I’m at a point of my life and career that I believe will enable me to give back to the profession and the community.

Vision

Maintain, and expand on PMI existing operations. Learn, analyze, and design ways to better represent the Project Mangers community in Atlanta. Establish mutually beneficial relationships with the business community that will enable the chapter to become an advocate and representative of the profession. Work with academia to identify opportunities to develop curriculum that addresses the challenges facing project managers in a changing and hybrid world. Work with the executive board team to identify and establish revenue generating sources beyond the traditional channels. I believe that these goals will enhance the chapter image and elevate membership.
