Austin-Rick-2-squared-borderedWhen organizations move to agile for software delivery, there is often tension with traditional portfolio management. This talk will illustrate how an organization can move from traditional portfolio management approaches to one that embraces agile software delivery. Doing so enables organizations to become predictable, improve the flow of value delivered, and pivot more quickly if necessary. We will demonstrate the use of governance that allows a more adaptive portfolio management approach. We will cover topics that enable agile portfolio management including:

  • Lean techniques for managing flow
  • Effective prioritization techniques
  • Long range road-mapping
  • Demand management and planning
  • Progressively elaborated business cases
  • Validation of outcomes
  • Support for audit and compliance needs

These topics will be illustrated by real-world examples of portfolio management that have been proven over the last five years with a wide range of clients

PM in the AM Breakfast (Alpharetta) - 170920

Alpharetta Presbyterian Church

"Real Leaders Don’t Need Titles"
presented by Laura Davidson, PMP, PMI-RMP, IHG

Join us for breakfast at Alpharetta Presbyterian Church for a great start to the day!  You will enjoy networking with peers, a hearty breakfast, and an engaging presentation.

Presentation

Davidson-Laura-2017-squared-borderKevin Kruse tells us that, “Leadership is a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others towards the achievement of a goal.” Seniority, position, and titles are often confused with leadership. Leaders are made over time, not miraculously created at the bequest of a title or pay grade.

The simplest definition of leadership is the ability to lead. Leadership is a complex skill made up consensus building, problem solving, and product execution. Project Managers use leadership to manage and deliver projects often without title or seniority – what makes some project managers better leaders than others?

Effective leaders strengthen their leadership skills by improving their communication ability. More than a 'how to present' discussion, this presentation will give you immediate tips on how to successfully connect and engage critical stakeholders for buy-in and support.
