Suddenly, without warning, a major disagreement erupts. While some are vehement about one position, several people take an opposing stand; and still others believe the entire discussion is a waste of time. Voices get louder, people stop listening, others check-out. You know you have to take control and help the group move to consensus. What do you do? What techniques do you use? What are the key underlying principles for reaching consensus? This session will equip you with a clear understanding of the three reasons people disagree, three methods for establishing a consensus-focused process, and five techniques for getting to yes when disagreements occur.

Agile Forum - 190115

Title: "PMI Agile Forum - Backlog Planning exercise"

Presented by: Rob Phillips, Principal Solutions Architect / AgileCraft

The Agile Forum meetings offer an opportunity for professional networking and knowledge sharing with other agile practitioners as well as provide a learning environment for professionals interested in learning about agile techniques. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Presentation

For our first PMI Agile Forum meeting of 2019, we will once again start with our popular backlog planning exercise.   With your input we'll create a ranked PhillipsRobTopic/Speaker Backlog for the upcoming sessions in 2019. This exercise helps The PMI Agile Forum deliver content that has the greatest value to Forum attendees.

We will start with some brainstorming games to spark content input.  Then, we'll form Feature teams to target key areas and create our Backlog Kanban to visualize the work.  Finally, we'll apply estimation & prioritization techniques to rank the topics to create our planned Roadmap for 2019.

Please start the experience by submitting any ideas you may already have in the Speaker Question box on the registration website.

In the past, this meeting has been one of our most attended annually, so please be sure to join us and make your voice heard.  In addition to helping direct content for the year, you may also take away something you can use in your own projects/organizations.
