norman-eric"The End of the PMO" presented by Eric S. Norman, PMP, CSM, PgMP, PMI Fellow

The hallmark of successful PMOs is their importance to business leaders and decision-makers. In the most successful cases where the PMO is considered high value, the PMO functions as the single source for “business intelligence” about what is happening within the organization.  To quote Gartner analyst Audrey Apfel from her 2011 conference paper, (Apfel, 2011) “the pinnacle of PMO maturity is the Strategy Execution Office”.  In the final analysis, the most successful PMOs are woven into the fabric of the organizations they support.  This presentation provides insight to help transform your PMO from an organizational function that provides operational and administrative overhead to a vital governance resource that delivers critically important information for decision-making.

Architectural, Engineering, & Construction (AEC) Forum - 191112

Construct Connect

Leading Executive Conversations

presented by Kimberly Gray Fess, Sally Williamson & Associates (SW&A)

The PMI Atlanta AEC Forum is a focus group that hosts regular events with ranging topics in the architectural, engineering, and construction fields. We will show the importance of solid project management in these related fields of study.

Research has shown that executives evaluate conversations based on two things: first, are you credible and confident? In other words, should you be talking to me? An executive responds to your style in less than two minutes, and effective communicators make intentional choices about the impressions they create.
But, confidence isn’t enough with an executive audience. The second thing they look for is whether you can solve a business need. In fact, they say that they turn down the offerings from a lot of confident people because they just don’t see the alignment with their business objectives.

More than any other listener, an executive wants to know the bottom-line benefit or decision. Leading conversations means crafting a message that drives an action or ask from the executive and a measureable impact for the business.

In this session, SW&A will show you how to answer both expectations. We’ll share data points from executives about what they value most in conversations and what usually goes wrong. And, finally we’ll show you how to craft a compelling message that captures their attention and quite often, their approval or buy-in.

Key Components:
Understanding the C-suite Perspective
Creating a Compelling & Measureable Message
