Description:  
This workshop is for those who want to prevent rework, chaos and failure by managing the uncertainty that exists in all projects and processes. Participants in this workshop learn to focus on risks through the life of a project or process, as well as establishing an environment favorable to acknowledging and accepting risk as a normal part of most endeavors.

This highly interactive workshop covers the seven key steps needed for managing risk:

     • Establish Risk Culture/Risk Management Objectives
     • Identify Risks and Opportunities
     • Analyze and Evaluate Risks/Opportunities
     • Plan Risk/Opportunity Responses
     • Monitor & Control Risks
     • Reassess Risk Management /Close Out Risk

This course teaches participants a Risk Management Process beginning with a risk culture and risk management objectives, through developing, executing, closing and incorporating lessons learned. 



Course objectives:

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

     • Determine risk management objectives, tolerance, risk thresholds, & risk triggers
     • Establish objective definitions for levels of risk probability & impact
     • Identify risk events in a structured, efficient, and engaging way
     • Prioritize and understand risks & opportunities
     • Recognize strategies to enhance opportunities
     • Determine the appropriate responses to manage risks
     • Develop a risk management plan to communicate & track risks & opportunities
     • Develop and manage a contingency reserve using the risk management plan
     • Incorporate risk management into the project plan, process or initiative
     • Use risk closeout to reassess the risk management plan to improve risk management practice

Instructor Biography:

She has an MBA, a PMP, and is an adjunct faculty member at Villanova University, and a Senior Life Member of the Society of Women Engineers, and a member of American Mensa. Karen is the co-author of the newly published book, The Risk Management Memory Jogger™, 2013.
