Description:

The Project Management Institute (PMI®) asserts that project managers spend 90% of the time communicating; therefore, it is imperative for that the practitioner possesses effective communications and facilitation skills. In this seminar, participants will learn better ways to communicate and facilitate team meetings while ensuring that the messages are consistent and relevant.
Topics covered in this seminar include:

  • Facts and statistics on communications
  • Common communications challenges and pitfalls
  • Communicating up, down, and across the stakeholder groups
  • The new communications landscape: dealing with virtual, global, and “millennial-infused” environments
  • Incorporating aligned technology, models, and methods

The session provides a healthy combination of lecture, discussion, and hands-on application of effective team communications and facilitation skills that can be integrated into any team environment.

Instructor: Chris Wright, CPLP®, MPM, PMP®

Instructor Bio. 

Christopher (Chris) J Wright is a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP®) and Project Management Professional (PMP®) and with over 20 years of project leadership, mentoring, consulting, and learning and development experience. Chris is in the business of optimizing human resource capital by helping organizations do a better job of delivering their projects while enhancing their adult learning environment through targeted and relevant development offerings. Chris’ stated core purpose to lead through teaching and inspiring others.

Chris is the Founder and President of Tanden, a project management, leadership development, and professional training company based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Tanden works with an array of clients from many different industries including: consumer foods and beverages, biotechnology, information technology, finance and insurance, department of defense, crop science, wireless telecommunications, and retail.

Prior to Tanden, Mr. Wright spent over a dozen years in the wireless telecommunications sector as a project and program manager for new technology development endeavors. Some of his notable projects were the pilot implementations for texting services in 1995 and the first picture messaging service (camera phones) implementation in 2003.

Chris has a Masters in Project Management from Western Carolina University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Spanish from Georgia Southern University. He is an active member of the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and the Project Management Institute (PMI), where he served as Vice President of Education. In his spare time, Chris enjoys coaching baseball, playing golf, mountain biking, and directing his charitable organization, the Bald Entrepreneurs.
