Dr. Shawn Liu
Dr. Shawn Liu is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Management at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University. A certified Project Management Professional (PMP), she brings more than a decade of industry experience across management consulting firms and senior in-house leadership roles, where she led multi-stakeholder project engagements in human capital transformation and strategic organizational development. She also holds senior HR credentials (SPHR and SHRM-SCP), reflecting her cross-functional fluency in project execution and workforce design.
Dr. Liu's research sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, strategic leadership, and project-based organizing. Her current work is part of a joint research collaboration between PMI Atlanta and Georgia State University, examining how AI reshapes decision authority, leadership structures, and strategic routines in project-intensive firms. Her work is published in the Journal of Management and featured in the handbook of AI and Strategy. She actively presents at the Academy of Management and Strategic Management Society conferences.
Dr. Liu holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from Clemson University and an M.A. in Human Resources from the University of Minnesota. Committed to deepening her technical foundations, Dr. Liu is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology.
