There is a great new project or position you want at your company. Are you going to get it? Why does it seem that less capable people get these opportunities while you continue to excel? You are confident with your core skills, but feel you are not getting the recognition you deserve. Maybe you feel trapped in your current role and not sure where transferrable skills could take them.
The problem isn’t you, but the way you are marketing yourself. Do people really understand the value you provide or the niche experience you bring? What sets you apart from all the other co-workers and candidates making you stand out from the sea of mediocrity?
This presentation will address these issues and give you a new way of communicating your value to others. We will discuss what makes marketing successful, and how you can leverage these principles to promote your career. At the end, you will see yourself in a whole new light.
• Learn how solid marketing principles can be applied to personal branding and career development.
• Discover the biggest mistakes with resumes and cover letters.
• Explore more effective ways to market yourself within your own company or when applying for a new job.
• Learn tricks to getting to and through the interview phase.

Imagine you are one of the architects in charge of building the Great Pyramids of Egypt. Nowadays, PMs are confronted with a myriad of challenges. PMs have to communicate with different types of stakeholders. Now consider five thousand years ago in Egypt. How would you communicate with the Pharaoh? How would you communicate with the other stakeholders? Such a situation would require an entirely different strategy with different dynamics for each channel of communication. In formulating your communication strategy with the Pharaoh, you would have to know the proper protocol to address royalty in Egypt and the proper language to use. In the same manner, when communicating with upper management, you must be aware of the organization’s protocols, culture, and proper language to use when communicating with executives. Please keep in mind, that this is not an attempt to rewrite history, but a real exercise on the practical application of Project Management Best Practices, PMBOK, common sense, and a lot of passion and dedication to the PM craft. Specific PM topics covered will be: communications, Implications of Project Management on project success, Scope Control, Scope Change, Change Management, and Scope Definition.
