Description:
This class will provide an introduction to Security Frameworks for PMs, C-level executives, sponsors, and implementation leads. It will provide students with guidance on how to manage cyber security risks. It will also explain and define the current situation that security professionals are faced with. The student will develop an understanding of the threats and vulnerabilities that organizations have. The class will provide the students with a road map to assess, or start a security program. It will cover the basics of various tools utilized in the security arena. The class is technology agnostic, intuitive and the student is not required to have an IT background to successfully participate in the class.

John A. Salguero, MBA-ISM, PMP, CISSP, SSGB
Consultant & Technologist
John Salguero has a BS in Computer Information Systems from CSULA where he was President of the Hispanic Business Society and Business Student Council as well as the 1996 Riordan Fellow at Anderson Graduate School of Management in California. He also has an MBA in Information Security Management from Saint Leo University. Mr. Salguero earned a CISSP certification in 2013. He has conducted extensive research in the area of Cyber Security, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics and NIST publications. Mr. Salguero spoke at the ISACA 2015 Geek Week Conference in Atlanta in August with the topic, “How To Operationalize President Obama’s Executive Order 13636: NIST Framework…” He is currently leading a CISA Certification Study Group at Saint Leo University, and will take the examination December 12, 2015. He moved with his family to Georgia in 2010. Mr. Salguero received a certificate of special recognition for his contributions to the Private Key Infrastructure (PKI) project at Kaiser Permanente in California. As a Systems Engineer and as a Program Manager, he has successfully led projects in the areas of Aerospace, and Healthcare. He has architected solutions for authentication, data protection, databases, and application security. He also managed outsourced activities of an applications development group in India. As an Associate Director, Mr. Salguero designed and implemented a governance strategy for MS Active Directory Consolidation at UGA. Mr. Salguero is passionate about helping people. He joined in 2000 and became a PMP in 2005. He has volunteered with PMI in various roles as PMI Ambassador and as Chair of PMI Athens Committee. He believes in sharing knowledge with others by mentoring and coaching. Mr. Salguero strives to build road where there are none, and he is highly motivated by inspirational leadership. He truly believes that there are leaders who are present in the moment who are able to identify the “call to arms” for their team and leaders who listen to others with an open mind

In this talk, we will examine what Big Data is and how it affects the job of the Project Manager. We'll look at the latest tools and techniques that can be applied to big data. Then, we'll discuss the promise and challenges of using Big Data to support project Management.
Dr. Craig Piercy is a senior lecturer of MIS in the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia and the Director of the Master of Internet Technology program – Terry College's first online Masters program. Project Management is a core competency of the graduates of this program.
He earned his Ph.D. in the Management and Decision Sciences at the Terry college of Business - University of Georgia. His primary research has been to improve decision making in the face complex decisions involving multiple objectives.
Dr. Piercy also holds an MBA from the Terry College and a B.S. Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Tech University. He attended UGA from 1990 to 1997. After a 3 year stint as an assistant professor in the Computer Science department of Towson University in Towson, MD, Dr. Piercy returned to UGA as a faculty member.
Prior to his return to academia, Dr. Piercy worked as a process improvement engineer in the Textile manufacturing industry for Milliken and Company. His duties included the installation and maintenance of production and testing equipment. He was his production facilities leader in implementing Milliken's TQM/SPC program which led helped the company earn the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award in 1989.
Dr. Piercy is a co-author and contributor to 5 information systems and business textbooks. Creator of online educational media, He has also worked as a process improvement engineer, consultant and systems developer.
He spends most of his free time with his family (he's currently a high school and elementary school dad :-), enjoying outdoor activities and making things.
