Presentation Details:
R&D (Research and Development) is the future lifeblood of a company – especially those with highly technical products. At the same time, there is never a guarantee that R&D will produce the right product at the right cost and functionality. Therefore, there is always a need to balance the development of new products with the market and future customer needs.
This presentation will outline some of the issues in taking R&D from the lab to the manufacturing line and to market. A specific program will be highlighted where a $1-billion-dollar program, consisting of 25 related projects, went into a $100 million deficit. The program was eventually rescued. The PM methods and activities used to rescue this program will be presented (as well as keeping your sanity in the process).
