Clinical Research Forum - 180510

"Clinical Research Project Management" presented by Dr. Toks Onabanjo, CEO, International Institute of Technology & Applications

The PMI Atlanta announces a new forum for 2018 - Clinical Research Forum. Join us in the 1st Quarter as we launch this exciting new forum in Marietta!

Presentation

“A  goal  without  a  plan  is  just  a  wish” –  Antoine  de  Saint-Exupery (1900–1944).

This presentation will address the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to meet project requirements in the environment of clinical trials. The use of project management principles to initiate, plan, conduct and close a study affords a structure for delivering the project successfully, as not all researchers are trained in project management.

The  principles  were developed initially in engineering and construction, but are generic and can be readily applied to any discipline and project, including research in the health setting and, in particular, prospective studies such as clinical trials.Onabanjo-Toks-square

Toks will focus on the tailoring and application of the main project management domains: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling & Closing

Initiate - research question, background, design, patient population, intervention, control, outcomes, safety

Planning - Plan - number of patients/hospital sites, recruitment period, follow up required, study tool including data capture forms, data systems, funds, staff, stakeholder management

Execute - ethical and regulatory requirements, site initiation and activation, education and training of sites personnel, recruitment, data collection, stakeholder management

Monitoring and control - Control - oversight of timelines, control over slippages, risk management, on-site monitoring, source data verification, source date review
