Presentation

"Predicting the Future: Let’s Stop Living in Fear of It"

Presented by: Ebenezer Ikonne, AVP Software Engineering / Cox Automotive

How much will it cost? How long will it take? When will you be done? These questions (and others) come flying hard and fast at individuals in software development shops. In fact, it seems that we spend most of our time estimating how long work will take and then spending even more time talking about what went wrong with our estimates. All this talk has led to movements such #NoEstimates and the like.

Software development involves complexity and uncertainty and yet we want to get our work done in time and under budget. Is this even possible? This presentation will explore the role of estimation and forecasting in software development and how teams can stop living in fear of predicting the future.
