The PMI Atlanta AEC Forum is a focus group that hosts regular events with ranging topics in the architectural, engineering, and construction fields. We will show the importance of solid project management in these related fields of study.

"The Impromtu Speaker” - focuses on communicating effectively in less formal, unplanned business situations such as company meetings, project updates, visits with clients, and impromptu Q&A. All of these scenarios demand the ability to think on your feet, quickly organize a message, and deliver it in a way that conveys confidence 

Learn to:

Effectively communicate during interactive meetings.

  • Quickly pull thoughts together when called upon unexpectedly to speak.
  • Deliver simple, organized messages to connect with listeners.
  • Handle interruptions and answer questions while driving an agenda.

Maintain an executive presence.

  • Speak with the kind of style that builds confidence and persuades.
  • Receive specific coaching on ways to enhance visual and vocal presence, including eye contact and energy.

Answer questions in a way that inspires confidence.

  • Simple techniques for preparing for, embracing and handling Q&A.
  • Keep responses simple rather than getting lost in the weeds.

Biography

JD’s passion lies in helping professionals become better communicators and organizations grow. Specifically, helping people communicate in a way that is more persuasive and sells their ideas by connecting with their listeners and exuding passion for their ideas.

JD works with prominent Atlanta companies such as Coca-Cola and The Home Depot and also works with construction firms such as Brasfield & Gorrie and JE Dunn.

JD holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also an adjunct lecturer for business communications in Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business MBA program.

JD is a community leader and co-founder of the City of Brookhaven, where he serves on the Zoning Board of Appeals. He is a three-time Ironman Triathlete. He is married and has three wonderful daughters.
