The PMI Atlanta AEC Forum is a focus group that hosts regular events with ranging topics in the architectural, engineering, and construction fields. We will show the importance of solid project management in these related fields of study.

Presentation

During this session you will learn what the role & responsibilities of an estimator is on any given project. Why cost management is important? How a cost estimate can be used as a vital project management tool to save time and money through out the project life cycle.

You will see examples of different types of estimate formats showing examples with the final cost vs estimated cost variances.

Biography

For 30 years, Burt Jenkins has worked in the construction industry as both an estimator and project manager. As a Senior Cost Analyst at Costing Services Group, Inc. for the past ten years, Burt is responsible for providing cost management services including: preparation of estimates, cost models, trade-off cost studies and budgeting.

Burt is a Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) and a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Technology from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.
