The PMI Atlanta announces a new forum in 2019 - Auto & Transportation Forum. The Auto & Transportation forum provides the project management professionals working in automotive, transportation and ancillaries to share knowledge of how they employ the principles of project management.

Presentation

MARTA's expansion will include 17 projects such as 22 miles of light rail, 14 miles of bus rapid transit and 26 miles of arterial rapid transit. The More MARTA plan, offical name of the expansion, calls for $570 million to help fund transit along about 15 miles of the 22-mile Beltline loop. Light rail along the Clifton Corridor gets $250 million, with another $100 million contigent upon securing "full local funding" for the project.

BiographyMcCombs-Dorinda

With a distinguished career spanning more than 22 years, Dorinda McCombs is the director of capital programming for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). In that position, Dorinda has fulfilled multiple roles including systems integration, scoping and screening, executive reporting and capital program development. Dorinda has led the integration efforts between Oracle and Primavera P6, Oracle Unifier, updating and migration of the CIP SharePoint website, and designed reporting on capital programs.


Prior to joining MARTA, Dorinda was a senior project manager and subject matter expert for the Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and deployed a SharePoint learning and online training portal for more than 200,000 deployed soldiers. Her DoD consulting career included five years as a senior project manager with Booz Allen Hamilton conducting business process reviews, contract management, and A-76 Studies for the Army's Forces Command at the Fort McPherson. Dorinda was recognized with Booz Allen's highest award for her business process re-engineering deliverables for the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) which included standing up a data warehouse and front-end business intelligence interface design.


As a deputy commissioner and director of management services for the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs (DPRCA) at the City of Atlanta, Dorinda created the first performance scorecard program dashboard for citywide performance using MS Excel and IBM Cognos. This system provided the city’s executive team and the mayor with performance stats on every department as well as relationship scores that indicated how each department's performance affected other departments. Dorinda received numerous awards and was chosen to lead the Organizational Change Management initiative for DPRCA with the Oracle team. As the lead, Dorinda wrote and implemented policies and procedures, Oracle Tutor online help descriptions, and staff training on Oracle Solutions.


With a Bachelor degree in accounting and business, Dorinda spent her early career as an accountant and special projects manager under the mentoring of the executive vice president at California State University, San Marcos. She completed her MBA at Cal State San Marcos in government management with an emphasis in government costing and re-engineering.
