Whether focusing on clinical trials operations or leveraging generative AI to analyze real-world clinical data, life sciences companies often lack the fundamentals of project execution. Without effective project management quarterbacking, an alarming number of critical projects will continue to encounter costly failures, eroding productivity and affecting R&D pipeline performance. During this virtual forum event, we will identify five leading culprits to project failure and provide solutions and recommendations to equip you to excel in the new project execution environment.
Biography
Marcia Brown-Rayford, VP of Global Life Sciences R&D at RGP, has 30 years of pharma, biotech and medical device R&D experience in scientific optimization, strategic transformation, and operational excellence. Marcia’s career began at Merck as a research chemical engineer in drug development, advancing such compounds as Singulair, Crixivan, Ivermectin, and Heartgard. She later joined PwC’s Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences practice as an executive management consultant, leading global transformation initiatives. She also led efforts to design modeling and simulation capabilities and developed digital roadmaps to optimize clinical research methodologies and productivity. Her contributions include over $0.5 billion in efficiencies.
Marcia is certified in project management, change execution management, enterprise process management, and is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. She sits on the Advisory Board of RGP’s Women in Leadership employee resource group and was a founding member of RGP’s DE&I Council. She holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and MBAs from The Wharton School in Strategic Management, Entrepreneurial Management and Finance. One of her key give-back efforts includes founding and leading BrightPath STEAM Academy to expose Black and underrepresented youth to disciplines in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. In 2023, this camp hosted 500 youth from 20 states and four countries. Marcia is author, public speaker and fierce pioneer who formerly resided in North Atlanta, GA and now co-habits with her family in St. Louis, MO.
