Whether presenting to small or large groups, public speaking skills play a critical role in helping you achieve success in delivering your content. In his presentation, Fred Walker will cover a variety of topics that include practical tips, suggestions, and best practices to help you take your communication skills to the next level and more effectively convey your message. Select topics include, engaging with your audience/team, techniques for improving your speaking delivery, ways to make your message impactful and clear, and more.

Professional Development Presenter Biography

Walker-FredFred Walker is a PMP® in the financial industry and is one of the co-founder of the PMI Atlanta Toastmasters Forum, where he mentors others to develop their leadership and communications skills. He worked as a consultant, project manager, and analyst on initiatives ranging from small to large, complex, and highly visible engagements. In all this experience, Fred learned very quickly that effective communication is a key factor in working with stakeholders and leading project teams. In fact, he used the skill to help companies solve problems in technology, process improvement and banking for well-known company like, Accenture and Price Waterhouse.

Mr. Walker holds an MBA and an MA degree in economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. He earned several designations, including the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) from Toastmasters International®. The DTM is the highest achievement one can attain in Toastmasters and is the capstone of their communication and leadership program. He has also served as the area director in District 44 (Georgia) Toastmasters.

Fred continues to serve PMI Atlanta Toastmasters as past president and treasurer.

Keynote Presentation Details

Delivering increased customer value is at the heart of every company’s digital transformation strategy and what constitutes “customer value” depends on the industry. The presentation will begin with an interactive discussion on how digital age is transforming business and technology. Although digital transformation will vary widely based on organizations' specific challenges and demands, this presentation will outline the common themes that all business and technology leaders consider. The top 10 trends for digital transformation in 2018 will be presented. The presentation will also share the important digital transformation statistics that the businesses can no longer ignore and how the digital integration and engagement throughout the organization is a priority.

To win in the digital marketplace there is a need for ‘innovation’ and ‘agility’ in this age of converging technologies in the areas of content, computing and communications. In the presentation, we will explore how embracing Agile as a mind-set and a work methodology is important to drive innovation during digital transformation. The changes to leadership and project management for the digital frontier will be presented. Also, we will discuss the principles of AI/Blockchain/IoT and how project/program/portfolio managers can contribute and lead these efforts based on innovation and time-to-market key performance indicators.

Raghupathy-ShobhnaShobhna is a Global Strategy & Project Portfolio Management consultant. She has extensive experience in managing enterprise-wide technical and strategic projects in Telecommunications, Healthcare, Finance and Consulting. Shobhna is a recognized presenter at PMI Global Congresses and Leadership Institute Meetings and invited Speaker at PMI Chapter PDDs and Symposia.

She is a proven leader with a successful track record in collaborative teamwork with global teams & project execution, She has worked closely with senior executives develop comprehensive business case and provide executive level project dashboards, presentations and Key Performance Indicators(KPI) reporting. She has implemented technical & strategic - Infrastructure & Software development projects using the global delivery model (on-shore/off-shore) in cross-functional & matrix environments using Waterfall / Agile methodologies & engaged in enterprise Digital Transformation efforts.

A long time PMI Volunteer Leader, she launched the Marketing Program at PMI Atlanta. As an Ethics SME, she led PMI Ethics CoP and was a member of PMI Ethics MAG and Ethics Review Committee. She is currently serving as a member of PMI Awards MAG.
