"Cutting Through the Fog of Multicloud Complexity" presented by Ravi Naik, CIO & EVP of Storage Services, Seagate

PMI Atlanta Technology Forum provides an environment for Project Managers to adopt and benefit from the latest technology in their professional life and career. The forum also plans to bring speakers to discuss & share the best practices in technology.

Presentation

Public cloud gets credit for enabling a great deal of innovation. When companies reach scale, however, they often run into hidden costs and other barriers that alienate them from their data. Seagate Technology's CIO and Executive Vice President of Storage Services Ravi Naik will offer a fascinating case study to which his team was central. He will tell the story of how confronting the multicloud complexity head-on led his team to a creative data solution that has since become an external vendor-agnostic storage offering.

He will offer practical advice on how business leaders can attain and plan for a clear view into the TCO associated with data storage and usage. The session will cover:

  • the benefits that cause companies to move data to public cloud
  • the trade-offs that accompany the move to public cloud
  • the challenges & costs that take place as companies reach scale
  • why business value suffers as a result of locked-in data
  • how to find a way out of multicloud complexity by following a pragmatic data decision-making matrix
  • ... and how, as a result, companies can both restore well-oiled IT departments—and drive business value
