Technology (Virtual) Forum - 230228

"DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) & Agile: Mutual Enablers" as presented by Nadine Bent-Russell, Global Program Manager, Honeywell

PMI Atlanta Technology Forum provides an environment for Project Managers to adopt and benefit from the latest technology in their professional life and career. The forum also plans to bring speakers to discuss and share the best practices in technology.

Presentation

As mutual enablers, the integration of DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) and Agile practices can result in further effectiveness of collaborative practices and, in many cases, spur employees to greater heights. Dr. W. Edwards Deming said, “Eighty-five percent of the reasons for failure are deficiencies in the systems and process rather than the employee. The role of management is to change the process rather than badgering individuals to do better.” I agree with this. I believe there is a challenge to this especially when transforming to an Agile practice and considering the impact of change on the people. He also said, “A good manager of people capitalizes on the family background, abilities, capabilities, and hopes of his people. He tries to give everybody a chance to take pride in his work, joy in his work.” DEI agility enables this at a powerful level.
