PMI Atlanta Technology Forum provides an environment for Project Managers to adopt and benefit from the latest technology in their professional life and career. The forum also plans to bring speakers to discuss and share the best practices in technology.

Presentation

As a late-career technology professional, I have navigated my way through at least 20 medium- or large-scale business transformation efforts. A rare few have been executed with well-defined scope and boundaries. However, most of these efforts have been less than optimal. To my perception, “somewhat” planned planning, sprawling in initial scope (or not ambitious enough), a tendency toward scope creep, loosely defined problem definition, and a lack of goal definition via success criteria have all been elements of less than successful efforts in which I have participated in the past.

Attendees will participate in a discussion regarding the concept of “transformation deficit”, how it’s been defined in the publications, and examples of what is considered good and not-so-good transformation efforts, and what learnings we can take for incremental improvements in this area.

David DeMatte is a seasoned professional with 20+ years in Information Technology and Business organizations spanning start-ups, consulting, and Fortune 500, including Honeywell, Hudson MX, Warner Media, Cricket Wireless, Verizon, Verint Systems, Autotrader, Cox Communications, PwC, Earthlink.
