Technology (Virtual) Forum - 251112

"Beyond Code: Taking Agile Upstream" presented by Laron Walker

PMI Atlanta Technology Forum provides an environment for Project Managers to adopt and benefit from the latest technology in their professional life and careers. The forum also plans to bring speakers to discuss and share the best practices in technology.

Presentation

The Legacy Line is a home décor venture that transforms the powerful imagery of the Withers Collection — a historic archive of over 1.8 million photographs capturing the civil rights era, Black culture, and American life — into contemporary products and digital experiences.

This presentation demonstrates how Agile methods can be applied to business building itself: using short sprints and market validation to guide branding, pricing, product design, and go-to-market strategy. Attendees will learn how an iterative, data-driven approach helped The Legacy Line evolve from concept to scalable venture, aligning creative vision, stakeholder input, and operational agility into a unified business framework.

Biography LaronWalker

Laron Walker is a distinguished technology entrepreneur with a strong academic foundation and a passion for educational equity and innovation. He graduated summa cum laude from Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and later earned his Master of Science in the same field from Purdue University. Leveraging his expertise in web technologies, Laron founded Sciberus, Inc., where he has led the design and development of advanced digital platforms that deliver educational and cultural content through web and mobile experiences.

Dedicated to expanding access to STEM education, Laron actively collaborates with schools and organizations to promote science, technology, engineering, and math. His advocacy focuses on making education open, accessible, and affordable for all. Through his current venture, MantisEDU, he is creating innovative programs that introduce students—even as early as kindergarten—to workforce-relevant skills through hands-on learning in robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, artificial intelligence (AI), app development, and gaming.

In addition to his work in education technology, Laron is the founder of The Legacy Line, a home décor and lifestyle brand inspired by the iconic Withers Collection, which preserves over 1.8 million historic photographs chronicling Black life and the American civil rights movement. Under his leadership, Legacy Line transforms this powerful visual heritage into modern products and digital experiences that celebrate culture and history while employing Agile business strategies to scale creative ventures from concept to market.

Laron also continues to give back to his alma mater, serving on the Foundation Board of Directors for Tennessee State University. He chairs the board of Time2Give, Inc., a nonprofit he founded to expand STEM exposure for youth. Through both his professional achievements and community involvement, he remains committed to empowering the next generation of thinkers and creators — inspiring young minds to engage with the technologies and stories shaping the future.
