"U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) transforming to Risk Informed Decision Making" Presented by Deborah Hesse Scerno, Sr. Environmental Planner, South Atlantic Division, US Army Corps of Engineers
The PMI Atlanta AEC Forum is a focus group that hosts regular events with ranging topics in the architectural, engineering, and construction fields. We will show the importance of solid project management in these related fields of study.
Presentation
Currently USACE project and program management meetings focus on milestones and budget, especially on whether or not they will be met. Discussions in those meetings often focus on the cause for an increase in cost or a delay - but rarely do they focus on the risks that were considered in the decisions that were made leading up to those increases or delays.
On June 2, 2017, James Dalton, Director of Civil Works, released a memo entitled "Further Advancing Project Delivery Efficiency and Effectiveness of USACE Civil Works." Within the five tenants he proposed are several mentions of risk informed decision making and timely problem solving. This talk will briefly discuss USACE current project and program management and how incorporating risk informed decision making could possibly change USACE and USACE project and program management.

"Patient Generated Health Data (PGHD) - The What, Why, and Hows" presented by: Lucy Osuna, Healthcare IT Professional
Join us for a special joint meeting between the Technology and Healthcare Forums!
Presentation
With the explosion of products targeting the patient consumer, i.e. Fitbit and Apple’s Health app, the growth of personal health data is on the rise. Collecting this data has been the normal activity when visiting the doctor. It is expected that vitals, such as blood pressure, heart rate, and weight will be collected and recorded. As healthcare has evolved outside of a doctor’s office so has the collection of this data. Vitals can now be collected at home throughout the day to create a more robust health record of a patient. However, this is not the only data that patients can produce.
The focus of this talk is to delve into Patient Generated Health Data (PGHD). What is considered PGHD? What can be done with it? Who owns it? Why is it important? What security safeguards come with it? These questions will be discussed as well as their implications.
