Technology Forum - 180522Mixed Reality presented by Matthew VollkommerPMI Atlanta Technology Forum provides an environment for Project Managers to adopt and benefit from the latest technology in their professional life and career. The forum also plans to bring speakers to discuss & share the best practices in technology. PresentationWhat is mixed reality? Mixed reality is an industry term used to cover two similar yet distinct technologies: Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Since the release of the google glass, concepts of mixed reality have captivated the public’s attention. Oculus rift attracted major attention across industry tradeshows though the mid-2010s. With the release of Pokémon go 2 years ago, mixed reality went main stream. But is mixed reality more than fun snapchat filters to send to friends and family? What is this technology? Who are the major players? Where is the technology going? |

Governance Forum - 180523The Governance Forum provides value to the PMI Atlanta community by offering participants: Discussion of field-tested best practices, Decisions frameworks to assess culture and apply optimal strategy, Key takeaways to “take to work tomorrow” to maximize realization of value through introduction and standardization of best practices in the oversight and execution of projects, programs, and portfolios. Presentation"The End of the PMO - Creating and Sustaining PMO Value" by Eric Norman, Managing Partner - Norman & Norman Consulting LLCWhen we look carefully at the most successful PMOs and compare them to those that struggle, there are a few characteristics among the vital ones that consistently set them apart. In this discussion we will review these characteristics to focus on critical aspects of PMOs that bring sustainable value to organizations. In the initiative management world, delivering real value seems to be the most elusive aspect of any Program Management Office or PMO. And because of this, the PMO seems to be one of the first places organizational leaders look to “right-size” or “optimize”, reducing the impact and potential value PMOs might generate for their organizations. Perhaps that’s why there are so many articles – many of them addressing this very issue, appearing in our literature these days, and so many qualified practitioners reluctant to take roles in PMOs.
