As a late-career technology professional, I have navigated my way through at least 20 medium- or large-scale business transformation efforts. A rare few have been executed with well-defined scope and boundaries. However, most of these efforts have been less than optimal. To my perception, “somewhat” planned planning, sprawling in initial scope (or not ambitious enough), a tendency toward scope creep, loosely defined problem definition, and a lack of goal definition via success criteria have all been elements of less than successful efforts in which I have participated in the past.
Attendees will participate in a discussion regarding the concept of “transformation deficit”, how it’s been defined in the publications, and examples of what is considered good and not-so-good transformation efforts, and what learnings we can take for incremental improvements in this area.
