How many times have you heard in a forum on Agile, or perhaps in a casual discussion among fellow practitioners—are we truly ‘being Agile’ or just ‘doing Agile’? Oftentimes these two concepts are presented as being pitted against one another as you would expect battle combatants. Our discussion, however, will focus on the complex and interconnected relationship between the two. Be prepared to think in a new way about what it means to be ‘doing Agile’!

In our conversation, we will explore:
• the Agile mindset, values, principles, and practices which are the underpinnings of doing Agile
• those corporate values, principles, and practices which may augment (or retard) our ability and effectiveness in doing Agile

Learning objectives:
• Recognize the primacy of mindset as the basis for any Agile transformation;
• Understand how the adherence to the values and principles of the Agile Manifesto, combined with a company’s values and principles all directly influence our ways of working (i.e. practices);
• Raise awareness for the need to manage upward as much as coach and mentor laterally to enable our Agile teams reach their fullest potential.

PresentationGreenwell-Angela

We are all leaders whether we know it or not. Leading others, directly or indirectly, begins with being intentional about how we lead ourselves. The challenge is that our risk-avoidant amygdala brains use a combination of fear and limiting beliefs to sabotage us. Our mindset, attitude, choices and actions serve as a model for building excellence in project leadership.

This discussion will cover how the practice of certified coaching can function as a framework to help us overcome the limits of our human brain, allowing us to go from reacting to responding with self-leadership, and improving the mindset of your project team.

Topics include:
• What is self-leadership and how to get your brain to work with you in achieving it
• What our brains fear most
• The different filters/limiting beliefs our brains use to hold us back
• How to notice limiting beliefs by paying attention to stress
• The steps coaches use to allow our brains to let go of limiting beliefs
• The 7 perspectives we have available in each moment.
