Harnessing the Power of Liberating Structures

The Agile Forum meetings offer an opportunity for professional networking and knowledge sharing with other agile practitioners as well as provide a learning environment for professionals interested in learning about agile techniques. Everyone is welcome to participate.                                                       

Presentation

We kick off the 2020 PMI Agile Forum by learning how to harness the power and excitement of Liberating Structures to create a ranked Topic/Speaker Backlog for the upcoming 2020 sessions.

Liberating Structures are easy-to-learn microstructures that enhance collaboration and trust, quickly fostering lively participation in groups of any size, and making it possible to truly include and unleash everyone.

For this session we will first learn about the Liberating Structure called 25/10 Crowd Sourcing as a fun, fast and casual way to engage the entire audience to generate an uncensored set of bold ideas and then to tap the wisdom of the whole group to identify and rank the top ten ideas. Next we will utilize Open Space, grouping around the idea you are most passionate about in order to flush out the details including acceptance criteria.

Biography

Brent Hickman is a PMP and Certified Scrum Professional with over 20 years of IT experience, including a focus on Agile coaching over the past 8 years. He is passionate about enabling organizations and its people maximize the delivery of customer value by coaching agile values, principles, and processes while sharing his extended experience of Lean Agile transformations. He strives to build the creation a high-trust organizational culture that supports a dynamic, disciplined, and scientific approach to experimentation and risk-taking, facilitating the creation of organizational learning through bi-directional feedback loops, both from successes and failures. Brent is currently employed at Invesco as an Enterprise Agile Coach.
