Agile Forum - 230516"Agile & Cybersecurity" presented by Andrew Gurbaxani, vCIO at Assessivate LLCThe Agile Forum is meeting in-person this month! Our meetings offer an opportunity for professional networking and knowledge sharing with other agile practitioners as well as provide a learning environment for professionals interested in learning about agile techniques. Everyone is welcome to participate. Presentation
In the IT world, there are few subjects with more buzz and importance than agile and cybersecurity. Agile techniques have transformed how we work, and cybersecurity has enabled dramatic changes in where we work. Both subjects have deep ties to the software development world, which pioneered the use of agile, and fostered the technologies behind cybersecurity, cryptography, wireless, web design, etc. We can see how these subjects separately influence our world and how we manage projects in it. However, what is the intersection, or better said, interaction between the two? We will come at this subject through two different ways:
As project managers become more involved in agile processes (e.g., sprints, continuous integration and continuous delivery/continuous deployment), they will need to add cybersecurity-related risk to their project risk logs. As they work on cybersecurity-related efforts (e.g., SOC 2 Compliance), they will benefit from agile techniques to make the projects more efficient. Also, with advances in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (e.g., ChatGPT), we expect the overlap between agile and cybersecurity processes to only increase in time. Presentation Outline:

The most challenging part of facilitating transition or striving for efficient business processes isn't the tools, techniques, or processes you choose to use. It all comes down to understanding that this mindset change requires strategic, future-thinking leaders to provide and welcome opportunities to engage their teams in conversations and activities that start to lay the foundation, which can make or break this new voyage. This experience is empowering and anticipated for everyone impacted. It requires time to plan, communicate, and consider continuous improvement from a people focus perspective and not to react to everything from a "company is on fire" way! By attending this session, you will learn how some practical tools and strategies are more purposeful and proactive in leading and empowering your teams, such as:
