Adding Lean and Agile ways of working to the delivery mix of 21st century organization requires changes to many of the PMO’s processes, such as in how strategic planning, funding, intake, governance, and oversight capabilities are performed. And, more times than not, these new ways of working must coexist with the more traditional or waterfall method of delivery that is already in use. A multimodal, “fit for purpose” delivery mechanism must be built using Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) capabilities, to ensure the organization is delivering on its strategic objectives. In this session, we will discuss how legacy PMOs must undergo a modernization process to embrace Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) capabilities to ensure the amount of Variability, Uncertainty, Change, and Ambiguity (VUCA) is taken into consideration when determining the best delivery method. Then, be able to effectively move the work to the right delivery teams, while providing the appropriate level of oversight, governance, and reporting necessary to understand and monitor the flow of work to produce value through achieving it business outcomes.

By attending this session, participants will be able to:

 1. Explain the changes that must be made in your organization’s operating and funding model at both the enterprise and business unit levels to support the fast, flexible flow of work that achieves agility or the ability to rapidly respond to change
2. Reexamine your key PMO processes and retrofit them to include Lean and Agile ways of working in support of Lean Portfolio Management best practices
3. Shift your PMO from an order taker to a trusted advisor by changing its role to strategic partner

Please join us for an informative and interactive session on turning your PMO into a Lean mean portfolio machine!
