Q. What has been your favorite or most rewarding volunteer experience with PMI Atlanta?
A. The most rewarding aspect of my volunteer experience with PMI Atlanta has been working with our Certification & Education team and our various educational providers and partners to help bring great educational opportunities to our PMI Atlanta Chapter Membership. I love working with them to select classes that will assist our membership in not only earning and maintaining their credentials, but selecting classes that will truly provide a value add to their work environment and colleagues. I also love reviewing the constructive feedback after each event along with our educational providers to help us understand how to improve our members’ experience.
Q. What would you like to accomplish during your volunteer tenure?
A. During my volunteer tenure I would like to make sure that I help to bring quality educational and training opportunities to our membership that help them both professionally and personally.
Q. How did you become interested in the project management profession?
A. I've always loved planning and organizing and figuring out how to get things done when I wanted them to be done, and of course, within budget, so project management was something that I grew into after spending some time in the doing strategic and comprehensive planning. It was my previous supervisor and PMP mentor that encouraged me to obtain my PMP and I'm grateful that I followed her advice.
Q. Are there any project management resources you find particularly helpful?
A. The project management resource that I have found to be the most helpful are the study groups. The PMP Study Group was one of the main reasons that I was able to pass the test; learning from my peers and finding out how they used the PMBOK methodologies in their various workplaces helped me to further understand and learn what I needed to know to pass the test. I also met some really great people that I still keep in contact with, so it’s a great way to network.
