It was a day of winners for PMI Atlanta Toastmasters at the Division C, District 44, Toastmasters Evaluation and Humorous Contest held Saturday, September 14th at the UPS Headquarters in Atlanta.
Dionne Saunders, DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster) placed first in the Evaluation contest as she gave a riveting evaluation of target speaker, Magdalene Womack’s speech, “Transformer.” Saunders a Toastmaster since 2007 and a former member of AT&T Expressions group shared with Womack the strengths of her speech which included humor, voice projection and animation while also providing a few suggestions for areas of improvement.
Saunders will compete in the Evaluation Contest at the District Level contest during the Imagine 2013 fall conference November 8th and 9th at the Crown Plaza Ravina Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.
They say laughter is the best medicine and when you combine the idea of getting out of debt with being a Toastmaster, it surely can bring about a plethora of humor. Shannon Kraiger, CC (Competent Communicator), CTM (Certified Toastmaster) and a member of PMI Atlanta Toastmasters since January 2011, entertained the audience in the Humorous Contest with her speech entitled DTM an acronym for Distinguished Toastmaster acknowledged by Toastmasters International. However, Kraiger cleverly applied the acronym in her speech about financial freedom to mean Debt Tamed Master. Her speech won her second place in the contest.
